About HAPP

Effective feedback is essential to student learning, but providing comprehensive feedback while grading student work can be time-consuming and inefficient. The Harmonized Appraisal (HAPP) assessment methodology integrates the grading and feedback processes into one, simplifying the assessment process for teachers and enhancing the learning experience for students.

Our mission is to serve educators and students in higher education with assessment methodology that is efficient, effective, and has a high impact on student learning, while heeding the key constraints provided by resources, deadlines, and other responsibilities.

How does HAPP work?

Set Up the Rubric

Create the student rubric and instructor rubric. The student rubric will be the general outline of the grading criteria. The instructor rubric will be used for grading and includes the checkmarks for the components of each criterion.

Grade the Student

Grade the student using the previously created rubric and its checkmark levels. Based on the checkmarks that are selected, feedback texts are automatically generated. The texts and awarded points can be customized on a per-checkmark level.

Customize the Feedback

After the grading is completed, the full feedback text can be reviewed. If needed, changes can be applied to further tailor the text to the student.

Publish Feedback for Student

When the feedback and grades are published for the students, they can review the points that were awarded to them on a per-criteria level. They will also obtain the customized feedback text as well as the itemized grading rubric.
